Being a Front-end Developer

As s Front-End Developer at Yummygum you constantly raise the bar when it comes to making designs come to life through immaculately clean code.

The team you’re part of makes sure designs and design systems are neatly turned into their topnotch functional, performant code equivalent. This means the Development team is the last link in the chain of beautiful digital products we make as a company.

Your typical day consists of picking up issues on GitHub and sprinkling your dev magic over digital products with a super duper modern tech stack that might just include TypeScript, React, Next.js, GraphQL and more. Sound like a cool challenge, doesn’t it?

Some days might be all about building Design Systems or adding motion animations using GSAP, FramerMotion. Or better yet, using WebGL. On other days you might be busy applying a11y, or working your way up to a (near) perfect Web Vitals score through performance optimization. Whether you’re working on a mobile app using React Native, or you’re implementing a Headless CMS or other Serverless back-end architectures, your team got your back.

And of course there’s tons of time to be meme’ing around on Slack.

Our tools of choice

  • React

  • TypeScript

  • GraphQL

  • Next.js

  • Bit.dev

You’ve earned your stripes when it comes to development. This shows in your vast experience using JavaScript frameworks and of course HTML semantics, CSS and TypeScript.

You absolutely *love* good design and feel fulfillment from coding it up and adding a dash of ‘ohyeah’ to it. Whether that is through animation or a nifty way of coding it up with. If it takes some thorough research first you’re like: let’s rock this son of a gum!

You *do* sweat the details and go to lengths to make sure your direct team does the same. In an inspirational way of course, building each other up to reach new heights. On that same note you have a sixth sense for noticing when a colleague could use some extra guidance or feedback.

You can spot an off-grid pixel from a mile away and you’d like to speak to the manager about it. Or directly to a designer for that matter. Better yet you don’t mind getting your hands dirty in Figma yourself.

Although you look back at launched products with pride you can’t help but think of things you could do even better next project. You’re not afraid to take the lead in introducing new technologies or ideas to the rest of the team. That’s because you’re super curious and driven to stay up to date on the latest and greatest frameworks, dev services and pro-tips.

Although you love indulging yourself in front-end development you’re comfortable dabbling with back-end development as well. You’re into learning new stuff every day, whether it’s about a certain dev stack or the process.

In short, you’ll

  • Code websites, mobile apps and web apps

  • Build and maintain Design Systems

  • Add delight through performant motion animation

  • Implement headless CMS’

  • Help the entire dev team reach new heights

  • Think along on how to improve the development process

  • Put the icing on the cake using code

These benefits are the default

We think certain benefits should come with your job, period. These benefits exist so we can focus on people — who also have lives outside of work.

Plenty of PTO

At least two days of paid time off per month. That's on top of eight national holidays. Recharge regularly to stay fresh and productive for work.

Casual working hrs

We start at ten in the morning and pack up around five. That gives us the right amount of time to enjoy our lives outside of work too. Basically, we don't work overtime.

Working from home

Many people on our team work from home one or two days a week. With the right setup and preparation it works better than being in the office.

Growth budget

We support growth. You get a yearly budget to spend on whatever you think helps you grow like books, courses and classes.

Team retreat

A week of fun together somewhere in a cottage or amazing villa. Get to know your team better while working on side projects. Work hard and play hard.

Annual bonus

As you grow, your salary grows. You can make bigger salary jumps depending on your added value to the company. An annual bonus around Christmas is a standard practice.

These are the people you’ll be working with
